Dagala Thousand Lakes Trek

This is an excellent trek for those of good fitness who without necessarily having had previous Alpine experience. This moderate standard rated trek passes through various picturesque high altitude lakes so named as the Thousand Lakes Trek. Also the route is particularly rich in bird species, alpine flowers and attractive meadows.

Dagala Trek begins between Thimphu Paro highways and ends in Thimphu. This is only trek which offers view of all the high Himalayan mountains peaks and promises the breathtaking view of the third highest peak Mt. Kenchenjunga at 8586 mts. Our visitors also see and come across numerous lakes naming the trek as Dagala Thousand lakes Trek.

Although many other peaks of Nepal are also visible, the first two days of the trek is quite difficult as it is uphill, the view and the experience of the whole trek is worth the climb.

The route also presents fascinating views of prominent eastern Himalayan peaks such as Mt’s. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Chomolhari, Jichu Drake, Masang Gang, Tsenda Gang and Gangchhenta. The best months for this trek are April/May and October/November.

Day 1: Arrival Paro International Airport, Bhutan by Druk Air flight. Overnight Paro.
Day 2: Paro valley sightseeing. Overnight Paro.
Day 3: Drive to Thimphu, exploration. Overnight in a hotel at Thimpu.
Day 4: Thimphu valley sightseeing. Overnight Thimphu.
Day 5: Thimphu to Talekha. Trek begins.
Day 6: Talekha to Japhuna.
Day 7: Japhuna to Jaduna.
Day 8: Jadula to Labatama.
Day 9: Labatama halt.
Day 10: Labatama to Genekha.
Day 11: Genekha to Paro. Trek ends. Overnight Paro.
Day 12: Day excursion to Taktsang Monastery.
Day 13: Transfer to Paro International airport for final departure.
