Tamang Heritage Trek

The Langtang region is as wild as any Tibetan highlands with idyllic rural landscape and the rich cultural heritage of ethnic Nepalese Tamang people. Despite being just a few hours' drive from Kathmandu, the trek along the off the beaten track of the rural and rugged mountains and the high passes dotted with chortens, stupas and prayer flags flapping in the wind make every trekker marvel why the country is called a "walker's paradise". A land of magic, meditation, and shamanism. Langtang is also the region of ancient Tibetan monasteries, rhododendron and bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls, snow-capped Himalayas, and many sacred lakes, or what the devout practitioners call the "Kunda".  .It (Tamang Heritage trail) is a new trekking route in the Himalaya. The trek is a combination of Tamang Heritage Trail and Langtang Valley trek.
During the Tamang Heritage trek you will explore traditional Tamang villages, unspoiled nature and local monasteries. During the Langtang part of the trek you will have great views on the Langtang mountain range. You can stay overnight at Kyangjin Gompa climb up to Tsergo Ri, a Himalayan Viewpoint at almost 5000m.

Tamang Heritage Trail Trekking is the recently opened trekking route in Langtang region. This trail was developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program under United Nations Development Project (UNDP). It offers a glance of the typical life style and culture of mountain people called Tamang. The trail passes through traditional Tamang villages (Goljung, Gatlang, Nagthal, Briddim) where life, culture, and crafts have remained unchanged since the beginning of the settlement. Warm traditional welcome hosted by the locals, their elaborate consumes, rich architecture of their mountain houses and the ancient monasteries and places of prayer add color to the experience of this heritage trekking. In addition to cultural experience, this trekking also offers stunning mountain views of Langtang and wilderness walking experience through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain and rhododendrons forests. Hot bath in the healing hot-water spring at Tatopani will also be an unforgettable experience of this trekking.
